The Popularity of the All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure

This procedure takes less time than traditional dental implants, and is usually less expensive. How All-on-4 Works

Traditional dental implant placement requires five to six implants to stabilize a full-bridge prosthetic. In many cases, patients have experienced bone loss in the jaw due to long-term denture use. The traditional method requires these patients to undergo bone grafts and other invasive procedures in order to provide a sufficiently strong base for their dental implants.

With All-on-4, only four dental implants are used. Since the front part of the jaw is less likely to experience major bone loss, two are placed there. The other two are fixed into the back part of the jaw, but at an angle so that, again, the implant can be placed in a denser area of the jawbone. A bridge is then permanently affixed to the four implants, providing long-lasting, natural-looking teeth. Recovery time is usually much shorter than with traditional dental implants.
